Hamburg/Frankfurt/Zurich. After Stefan Keitel joined Berenberg in September 2013 as Global Chief Investment Officer, Germany’s oldest private bank has strengthened its CIO-Office.

“We are very glad that we have gained another three renowned and respected experts. With their experience and expertise in the capital market, they will drive forward the development of our CIO-Office,” said Stefan Keitel, Global Chief Investment Officer and Head of Portfolio Management. “The CIO-Office, which comprises the entire investment strategy as well as all portfolio management units, is an important basis for the international growth strategy of Berenberg. We see the expansion of skills and expertise as a success factor for our business.” In the past months, Berenberg has expanded its CIO-Office with more than ten additional employees in the areas of Investment Strategy and Portfolio Management as well as the sub-segments Investment Services, Investment Advisory and Alternative Investments. “With these specific areas and the newly acquired employees, we have concluded our staff planning for the time being and feel that we are competitively positioned,” Keitel explains.

Markus Zipperer joins Berenberg on 1 July 2014 as Head of Institutional Portfolio Management. He previously worked at Credit Suisse in Germany for 16 years, where, after more than ten years as a portfolio manager for institutional clients, he was most recently Head of Investment Strategy. He was also chairman of the local Investment Committee in Germany and a member of the bank’s Global Asset Allocation Committee.

Thomas Lehr starts at Berenberg on 1 July 2014 as Deputy Head of Invest-ment Strategy International. He had been an investment strategist at Credit Suisse since 2001, focusing on market technicals. As a member of the Invest-ment Committee of Credit Suisse (Deutschland) AG, he held joint responsibility for the bank’s investment strategy in Germany. In 2008 he was called into the bank’s Global Asset Allocation Committee in Zurich. Thomas Lehr’s most recent position, which he held since 2011, was in the Global CIO-Office.

Thomas Lehr and Markus Zipperer will also be members of Berenberg’s Investment Committee as well as the Asset Allocation Committee, and will oversee the global investment strategy under the direction of Stefan Keitel and the Deputy Head of Investment Strategy Germany, Peter Reichel.

Ingo Kürpick joins Berenberg from DWS on 1 July 2014 and will oversee fund-based asset management strategies. Kürpick previously worked as Senior Portfolio Manager and Analyst at Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management Investment GmbH.
