Berenberg hires Harald Sandner for institutional business in Austria
- Former Oppenheim director to expand institutional asset management in Austria
- International recognition for the quality of advice and service provided by Berenberg for institutional investors
Hamburg/Vienna. Berenberg – Germany's oldest private bank, with headquarters in Hamburg and 17 offices in Europe, the US and Asia – is expanding its institutional asset management activities in Austria. Mag. Harald Sandner, 47, formerly Chairman of the Management Board of Oppenheim Asset Management in Austria and responsible for institutional activities, is joining Berenberg in Vienna with effect from 1 July.

The assets under management in this division have recently risen significantly to almost €12 billion. The clients served include institutional investors such as insurers, pension providers, occupational pension funds, industrial enterprises, family offices, financial service providers and foundations.
In 2005, Harald Sandner gained responsibility for institutional asset management at the private bank Sal. Oppenheim, where his most recent position was Chairman of the Management Board of Oppenheim Asset Management GmbH. In addition, the native of Kefermarkt in Upper Austria and graduate of Vienna University of Economics and Business is a certified management consultant and advisor for organisational development. Prior to his engagement by Sal. Oppenheim, he worked for Siemens-Innovest.
