Projects supported in 2014
Below you will find an overview of our supported projects from 2014
Goethe Grammar School in Lurup
Pupils sing in New York’s Carnegie Hall
The pupils’ choir of Goethe Grammar School from Hamburg’s Lurup district received an invitation from a New York concert promoter to perform at the world famous Carnegie Hall. Together with choirs and ensembles from all over the world, the pupils premiered a new piece of Welsh composer Karl Jenkins. Part of their travel expenses was covered by a donation from the BerenbergKids Foundation.
The phönikks Foundation offers counselling and psychotherapeutic support to young families and members of their family suffering from cancer. The concept involves out-patient follow-up care with a focus on the families and based on systemic, psychooncological services. The foundation offers a broad range of services to respond to its clients’ individual needs. Together with those affected, phönikks develops options to alleviate burdensome circumstances and stabilise the life situation through one-on-one counselling, bereavement groups for children, informational evenings for parents, musical therapy and art projects for children. The standard services covered by German compulsory health insurance funds do not include such offers for their members, which is why we contributed to the current costs with a donation.
The Sternenbrücke children’s hospice in Hamburg helps terminally ill children, young people and young adults (up to the age of 27 years) to live in dignity together with their parents and sisters and brothers until they die, and also supports the bereaved families after the loss of their child. Our donation helped to renovate the hospice’s therapy pool. The therapy pool is an important element complementing the nursing and pain therapy treatments for the children, who enjoy the warm water as it gives them relief and alleviates their pain.
Children for a better world
Lunch service for children
Under the motto of “With Children. For Children”, Children for a Better World campaigns for better prospects for children and young people. CHILDREN promotes the involvement of young people and consults children when taking decisions on the allocation of funds. The CHILDREN Lunch Table finances healthy meals for socially disadvantaged children throughout Germany, while the CHILDREN Discovery Fund supports them in developing their potential.
Hamburg macht Kinder gesund e.V.
New established post for adiposity treatment
Hamburg macht Kinder gesund (Hamburg Makes Children Healthy) is committed to further strengthening children’s medicine in Hamburg and to bringing to attention its specifics. Our donation helps the association to finance a staff member who coordinates examinations of children and young people diagnosed with adiposity, stays in touch with practice-based physicians and serves as the contact for affected children and their parents. The aim is to take care of both the obesity and the associated physical and emotional problems in order to achieve long-term success.
