Berenberg Bank is involved in many areas of social life. Here are some examples:

Polo

The bank has actively been sponsoring polo for many years. In addition to sponsoring different teams at polo tournaments in Germany, the UK and the United States of America, the polo tournaments below took place in 2009 under the patronage of Berenberg Bank:

• Berenberg Polo-Derby in Hamburg (13/14 June)
• Berenberg High Goal Trophy in Munich (18/19 July)
• Berenberg High Goal Cup in Dusseldorf (15/16 August)

Berenberg Bank Masters

In the year of the World Cup, we present the first golf tournament of the European Senior Tour in South Africa - the Berenberg Bank Masters. From 26 to 28 March 2010, golf legends like Gary Player or Sam Torrance will play for a prize money of 500,000 Euros on the golf course "The Links" in Fancourt, George, on the Garden Route.

Gallop

On July 5, 2009 the 140th German Derby has seen a race for the Berenberg Bank Cup. On the main day of the highest endowed German horse-race, horses raced for the silver trophy of Berenberg Bank on the track in Hamburg Horn.

Hockey

One of the most successful hockey clubs in Germany, the long-established „Der Club an der Alster" in Hamburg, again competes this season promoted by Berenberg Bank. "Alster" has won several German championships and European Cup Winners Cups.

Word Meets Music

Hamburg pianist Sebastian Knauer published a CD serial themed "Word Meets Music". Whilst famous German actresses like Hannelore Elsner, Gudrun Landgrebe or Martina Gedeck read out, the first scholarship holder of Berenberg Bank Stiftung von 1990 and today’s world-class pianist plays adequate piano pieces. Berenberg Bank enabled him to produce several CDs as well as concert evenings.  

Hamburg Institute of
International Economics (HWWI)

The institute emanating from the Hamburg World Economy Archive conducts its own high-quality economic research and makes it available to policy makers, scientific and business communities and the general public. Berenberg Bank is one of seven long-term strategic partners of HWWI and they jointly published a set of studies called "Strategy 2030 – Wealth and Life In The Next Generation". Event Prominent

"Event Prominent" is a charity gala in aid of two German charities: Hamburg Leuchtfeuer and Dunkelziffer. Famous fashion designers show their collections presented by celebrities on the catwalk. Berenberg Bank has been presenting sponsor of this event since 2005.
