Berenberg Bank

25.06.2009Berenberg Bank expands its London office

Hamburg, Germany. Berenberg Bank is set to grow its investment banking business. Germany’s oldest private bank is concentrating on expanding its large cap business in addition to its small and mid caps.

Two new teams, covering telecoms and healthcare, have been set up, enabling the Bank to acquire first-rate employees such as Mandeep Singh from Morgan Stanley, a leading European salesperson in the field of telecommunications. This underpins Berenberg’s desire to follow up on its successes of recent years in the area of large caps as well and to further strengthen its role as an important player in the market.

Along with Hamburg, Berenberg’s London office is of particular importance for the expansion, and the Bank has doubled the number of employees there to reach 40 over the last year. Berenberg advises both domestic and international fund management companies and investment houses from the London office and, in future, the Italian market will no longer be managed from Milan but from London instead. Berenberg also has investment banking offices in Paris and Zurich responsible for the respective national markets. Staff increases are expected for both these offices as well.
