16.05.2019 — Berenberg Polo-Derby: Berenberg presents polo at the highest level of the sport in Klein Flottbek
• International players and 160 horses are expected
• High goal tournament starts with eight teams
Hamburg. From 21 to 23 June, private bank Berenberg is hosting the tradition-steeped Berenberg Polo Derby at Hamburg Polo Club in Klein Flottbek for the 19th time. Top players from Argentina and Germany are expected. They will play in the highest class of the sport – the High Goal.

The polo derby belongs to the top league of polo as a sport and involves competitions that hold the promise of showcasing not only the dynamism and precision of the sport but also its team spirit and fairness. It is beyond question that the tournament is part of the German Polo Tour, an alliance of the most important tournaments in Germany.
Eight top-notch teams will compete against each other on three days of play. This year, once again, world-class riders will make their way to Klein Flottbek. A large share of the players will come from Argentina, the number 1 polo nation. The representatives from Germany will include organisers Christopher Kirsch and Thomas Winter, two of the best-known German players.
The tournament held at the oldest polo club in continental Europe has long since developed into a social event. Several hundred fans of this noble sport who love the combination of exciting action on the field and informal atmosphere are expected at the Hamburg Polo Club’s grounds at Jenischstrasse 26 in Klein Flottbek for the weekend of the final (22/23 June). The matches will take place between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Admission costs €20, concessionary tickets are available for half the price. There is a special offer for families: a family ticket for two adults and two children costs €25.
