31.07.2017 — EUR 95,000 for needy kids – Berenbergers “dig” for a good cause
Hamburg. On Saturday 29 July, employees of the private bank Berenberg hit the beach volleyball courts at the Hamburg Beach Center to play for a good cause in the BerenbergKids Beach Cup, for the seventh year in a row.
Eight teams and roughly 50 “Berenbergers” dug, slapped and smashed the volleyball from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the benefit of the BerenbergKids Foundation. Before the tournament, the players had collected EUR 95,000 worth of donations as a kind of “entry fee”, which will be distributed to around 15 social projects for disadvantaged children, mostly in the Hamburg metropolitan area.
BerenbergKids was founded by the employees of Germany’s oldest private bank in the spring of 2007. “We wanted to help disadvantaged children with BerenbergKids. This initiative comes from the heart and is sustained by the commitment of our employees”, says Steffen Mokosch, Chairman of the BerenbergKids Foundation.
Working on behalf of youths and children who need support has long been part of Berenberg’s commitment to social responsibility. The success of the social responsibility activities of the Berenberg bankers is attested by the numbers: Employees have collected roughly EUR 1 million since the founding of BerenbergKids.
