12.02.2020 — No suspicion: Investigations against Hendrik Riehmer dropped
Hamburg. The investigations initiated in March 2019 against Hendrik Riehmer, Managing Partner of Berenberg, were discontinued in accordance with Section 170 (2) of the German Code of Criminal Procedure on the grounds that the accusations were completely unfounded, as announced by the Hamburg public prosecutor's office on 11.02.2020. Riehmer had been wrongly suspected of having passed on insider information.
Berenberg had already announced immediately after the preliminary proceedings became known that the bank “firmly believes that the suspicion will not be confirmed”. With the discontinuation of the proceedings, this has now been officially confirmed.
Riehmer commented: “I am glad that the responsible investigating authority has now, after about a year of investigative work, come to the conclusion that the accusations were unfounded and that the reputation of myself and our bank is therefore not further damaged by this issue.”
