06.09.2018 — Tim Albrecht joins Berenberg as Head of German Equities
Hamburg. In Tim Albrecht, Berenberg has acquired one of the best-known German fund managers for its investment team. Currently at DWS, on 1 January 2019 Albrecht will join Germany’s oldest private bank as Head of German Equities in Wealth and Asset Management.

His coming on board is a clear reflection of our intention to become one of the best equity investment houses in Germany and Europe,” said Henning Gebhardt, Head of Wealth and Asset Management at Berenberg. Tim Albrecht will be Head of German Equities and report into Matthias Born, CIO Equities.
Under Henning Gebhardt, who came to Berenberg from DWS in 2017, the bank has greatly expanded its Wealth and Asset Management operations. “With fund managers like Matthias Born, Peter Kraus, Andreas Strobl and now Tim Albrecht, we have an outstanding team of investment experts to propel our growth course, with unique expertise in German and European equities.” Mat-thias Born said: “The performance, that our equity-team has achieved so far, shows, that we have taken the right path. This high-profile new hire will give us an additional boost.“
Discretionary funds and strategies are managed in Frankfurt, while quantitative strategies and overlay management are housed in Hamburg. The outstanding expertise that the bank has built up benefits its Wealth Management clients as well as institutional clients. Its funds products can also be purchased by non-clients.
Following a vocational training program for bankers and after studying business administration in Würzburg, Tim Albrecht started his career in 2000 at DWS, the funds subsidiary of Deutsche Bank. There he is Head of Equities for the German-speaking countries. Before that he was Head of German Equities and Global Sector Head for Industrials, among other positions. As Lead Fund Man-ager, with DWS Investa, DWS Deutschland and DWS Aktien Strategie Deutschland he manages several DWS flagship funds, overseeing an investment volume of 14 billion euros. He has won numerous awards, including Fund Manager of the Year and Best Fund Manager for German Equities.
