Berenberg goes US
Starting way back in 1833, Joh. Berenberg, Gossler & Co. was represented by a subsidiary in Boston for a couple of decades. In 2011, a subsidiary was once again set up in Boston, followed in 2012 by the opening of an office in New York, where Berenberg Capital Markets LLC now resides on Fifth Avenue. A real highlight came in mid-April when the bank was connected to the NASDAQ-OMX as a direct member: Berenberg partner Hendrik Riehmer and staff from Hamburg, London, Boston and New York got to ring the “closing bell” on the New York Stock Exchange. On that day, the new Berenberg logo could be seen for several hours on the façade of the New York Stock Exchange right on Times Square.
The Berenberg Masters has become the flagship event in mainland Europe on the European Senior Tour. The tournament ambassadors Gary Player and Bernhard Langer and host Berenberg look forward to greeting all-time greats from the world of golf in Cologne on 2-4 August.

HWWI/Berenberg City Ranking: Frankfurt remains top town
Hamburg/Frankfurt. For the third time after 2010 and 2008, the 30 biggest cities in Germany have been analysed to determine their sustainability. “The dynamic development of big cities is important for the prosperity of a region. So their success is a major factor in ensuring that the country remains competitive,” says Dr Hans-Walter Peters, spokesman of the managing partners at Berenberg. The finance and services centre Frankfurt am Main successfully defended top spot in the City Ranking just released by Berenberg and the Hamburg Institute of International Economics (HWWI). Munich follows hot on the heels of the city on the Main, while Bochum and Chemnitz are propping up the table.
